Craniosacral
Therapy
for your health & wellbeing
So what can you expect from your Craniosacral Therapy session?
During the treatment session the client typically lies or sits on a treatment table fully clothed. I will use a very light touch to “listen” to the body’s intrinsic movements. I will often begin the session by placing my hands lightly on the client’s feet. From here the subtle movements and patterns of restrictions and ease may be felt. I may then move to other areas of the body, often to the sacrum at the base of the spine or to the head or shoulders. In this work we do not manipulate or adjust bones or tissue.
Throughout the session you may feel a range of sensations such as tingling, buzzing, feelings of hot or cold. Sometimes you may feel small movements or adjustments taking place, or sometimes, you may feel nothing. Often a client will experience a deep sense of calm and relaxation. Any or all of the above is normal and welcomed as part of the healing process.
Depending on your particular needs you may require just one session — for example to alleviate acute physical pain — with optional maintenance sessions afterwards. Or a short series of sessions may be indicated to support healing and well-being. Together, we decide on a useful treatment plan during your first appointment. I may also suggest mindfulness based tools you can use at home to alleviate stress and pain and to support your ongoing health.
